On Saturday, we will all observe the somber 20th anniversary of the September 11th attacks on our land. I have already begun watching old video footage and documentaries commemorating that sad occasion. I encourage you to take some time to think about where we are as a people, pray, seek God’s intervention, and cry out for revival in America all over the world. When I think of the history-changing events of my lifetime (the fall of the USSR, 9/11, and Covid-19), I always wonder, “was God trying to get our attention?” Does He have your attention? I hope so. We who are disciples of Christ need to wake up (the Bible says “be vigilant”), get right with God, and share the gospel with everyone we possibly can while we have the opportunity to do so freely. We are all called to bring glory to God by connecting people with Christ. That is our mission! We need to lead by example, and we need to act on the admonitions of 2 Chronicles 7:14-15:
“If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land. Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayer that is made in this place.”
I believe that God is listening and waiting to hear from us. I believe that He will save anyone who asks for it in faith. I believe that God could still step in and turn things around, and I’m praying He will do so. I believe that His people need to be humble, holy, and engaged. We need to cry out to God for his intervention. Would you please join me in that prayer effort? We will commemorate September 11th at church this Sunday with a very special video presentation, a moment of silence, and a time of prayer. I hope to see you here!
